Broomfield, CO – November 9th, 2011 Austin Wood 5′10 senior point guard (Broomfield HS) has signed a national letter of intent to playcollege basketball at NCAA Division II McMurry University located in Abilene, TX.

Austin has been a mainstay at point guard for Broomfield the past 2 seasons, leading the Eagles to a combined record of 43-9, a Northern Conference Championship and two Elite 8 state tournament finishes. In his senior season, Austin and the talented core of Eagles have thier eyes on a 4A State Championship.

Geoff Golden Basketball has been fortunate to have Austin as a client over the past two years. He has worked extremely hard to develop all aspects of his game and develop a point guard leadership mentality. Austin has always had a natural feel for the game with a very high basketball IQ. His game will transfer seamlessly to the next level with his quickness, fearless playmaking and ability to knock down the open three. My prediction is that Austin will be a better college player than high school. That’s a lot to live up to considering his accomplishments thus far but I believe Austin still has a tremendous upside to his potential that will blossom with the competition and maturity he will develop competing at the next level. The War Hawks are going to be pleasantly surprised!

McMurry University has traditionally been a NCAA Division III school but is making the transition athletically to the Division II level in the 2012-2013 season. Austin and the War Hawks will compete in the Heartland Conference that features schools from Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Broomfield, CO – November 9th, 2011 Meagan Prins 6′1 forward/center (Broomfield HS) has signed a national letter of intent to play college basketball at NCAA Division II Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO.

Meagan has had tremendous success on and off the court throughout her high school career. During her winter’s at Broomfield HS she has played a vital role in the Eagles dominance of 4A girls basketball. In her upcoming senior season she will be looking to lead her team to a record 6th straight state championship. During her summers, Meagan has competed on both a regional and national level with AAU/club organization BC Denver.

I have personally had the opportunity to work with Meagan on an individual basis along with coaching her as a team member of BC Denver. When I think of Meagan I think of attitude! In my opinion, Meagan’s attitude is what drives her success. Impeccable work ethic and commitment to the game, extremely coachable with a desire to improve and the ultimate teammate on the court. Take those intangibles, add them to her talent and size and she is destined to make an impact on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for years to come.

Meagan currently carries a 4.15 GPA with academic honors. She plans to hold a double major in communications and journalism at Fort Lewis College.

Tomsick’s perimeter versatility and explosive scoring will make him a valuable asset at the next level. He carries a 3.5 GPA and was also named academic all-state. He has not yet decided where he will attend college.

Broomfield High School standout forward Renae Waters has signed a basketball letter of intent to play for the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Waters a 5′11 senior made the decision to sign early after taking an official visit that included a scholarship offer and an educational opportunity to good to pass up.

Before heading north to South Dakota and making the transition to the world of college basketball, Waters and her Broomfield High teammates have unfinished business as they will attempt to capture thier fourth consecutive 4A state championship. The Eagles have a combined overall record of 84-2 over the past 3 seasons going vitually unchallenged through 4A girls basketball. As a junior, Waters was an integral part of the Eagles run to the 2009 state championship coming off the bench behind a slew of talented seniors. She came up huge in the state championship game versus Mullen scoring 8 points and grabbing 8 rebounds after the Eagles fell deep in foul trouble down the stretch. In the upcoming 2009-10 season the Eagles will be relying heavily on the senior forward to lead the way. Renae has worked extremely hard this offseason to increase her versatility on the court. Her dominance in the post has been strengthened by an emphasis on “finishing through contact” but she has also spent a significant amount of time developing her perimeter jump shot and ballhandling to allow for a greater threat away from the basket. There are high expectations and big shoes to fill both from a production and leadership standpoint for the Eagles. Renae has been preparing for this opportunity for some time and will have no issues filling the void.

The South Dakota School of Mines is located in Rapid City, South Dakota and competes athletically at the NAIA Divison I level and as a member of the Dakota Athletic Conference. The Hardrockers have qualified for the NAIA National Tournament 8 of the past 12 seasons including two trips to the Final Four along with capturing 2 DAC titles. They are coached by Barb Feldereman, who is entering her 28th season with the Hardrockers and has compiled an overall record of 412-325 and 9 conference titles. Visit the Hardrockers at www.athletics.sdsmt.edu

Renae has been involved with Geoff Golden Basketball over the past couple of years and has earned the title of hardest working female athlete in the program. For those of us that know Renae, her success is no suprise, she tends to pursue her goals and ambitions with an intense focus and work ethic that is uncommon to the average teenager. As a coach, I could not be more proud of her accomplishments on and off the court, nor could I be more appreciative of her willingess to be coachable, her persistent attitude and the never say die work ethic that was a part of our every workout. Congratulations Renae on another goal accomplished and another 4 years on the hardwood…I’ve enjoyed the process!
