The camp will be structured around fundamental skill development and feature daily game play in a competitive learning environment.

The trade was a straight up 1 for 1 involving 6′6 shooting guard Brandon Rush. Rush a former Kansas Jayhawk star had spent the previous 3 seasons with the Pacers after being a 1st round draft selection (13th overall) by the Portland Trailblazers.

Amundson known around the league as a hustle/energy guy with tremendous athleticism worked extremely hard during the extended off-season to improve several aspects of his personal game.  I have personally worked with numerous NBA players but none with the work ethic and energy on the court as Amundson. He will no doubt provide a spark off the bench for the up and coming Pacers.

This year’s camp will have an outstanding line-up of  high level instruction including several former NCAA players.  As always Geoff Golden’s Camps/Clinics place a primary emphasis on fundamental skill development, overall athlete development and increasing basketball IQ. Each camp day will be divided into 3 – hour long segments: 1. Skill/Athlete Development (ie. shooting, ballhandling, lateral quickness etc.) 2. Position Specific Development (ie. guard play, post play etc.) 3. Competitive “live” action game play (ie. 1 0n 1, 3 on 3, 5 on 5).  Our goal as a camp staff is to teach and inspire each athlete to work at becoming a complete player and become a student of the game.

Geoff was selected by POINT 3 after 6 months of interviewing hundreds of full-time coaches, trainers and basketball professional across the country. 11 individuals were chosen to represent the company and its ongoing commitment to evolution in basketball.

The POINT 3 Alpha Program was created to identify and support basketball trainers who are leaders in their field and community, teaching the game with a focus on fundamental skills development, and strength and conditioning techniques specific to basketball. Austin has been a mainstay at point guard for Broomfield the past 2 seasons, leading the Eagles to a combined record of 43-9, a Northern Conference Championship and two Elite 8 state tournament finishes. In his senior season, Austin and the talented core of Eagles have thier eyes on a 4A State Championship.

Geoff Golden Basketball has been fortunate to have Austin as a client over the past two years. He has worked extremely hard to develop all aspects of his game and develop a point guard leadership mentality. Austin has always had a natural feel for the game with a very high basketball IQ. His game will transfer seamlessly to the next level with his quickness, fearless playmaking and ability to knock down the open three. My prediction is that Austin will be a better college player than high school. That’s a lot to live up to considering his accomplishments thus far but I believe Austin still has a tremendous upside to his potential that will blossom with the competition and maturity he will develop competing at the next level. The War Hawks are going to be pleasantly surprised!

McMurry University has traditionally been a NCAA Division III school but is making the transition athletically to the Division II level in the 2012-2013 season. Austin and the War Hawks will compete in the Heartland Conference that features schools from Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Meagan has had tremendous success on and off the court throughout her high school career.  During her winter’s at Broomfield HS she has played a vital role in the Eagles dominance of 4A girls basketball. In her upcoming senior season she will be looking to lead her team to a record 6th straight state championship.  During her summers, Meagan has competed on both a regional and national level with AAU/club organization BC Denver.

I have personally had the opportunity to work with Meagan on an individual basis along with coaching her as a team member of BC Denver. When I think of Meagan I think of  attitude!  In my opinion, Meagan’s attitude is what drives her success. Impeccable work ethic and commitment to the game, extremely coachable with a desire to improve and the ultimate teammate on the court. Take those intangibles, add them to her talent and size and she is destined to make an impact on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for years to come.

Meagan currently carries a 4.15 GPA with academic honors. She plans to hold a double major in communications and journalism at Fort Lewis College.

Playmaker Clinics are group workouts designed to build fundamental skill, increase basketball specific knowledge (commonly referred to as basketball I.Q) and develop overall athleticism.  Each Sunday session will be a comprehensive workout with a different emphasis in each of the above categories.  For example, our first Sunday we will specialize in shooting off the dribble, concept of offense spacing and lateral quickness.  Each session will conclude with a controlled scrimmage to help players learn to transfer skills and concepts from drills to game conditions.

Our primary goal with the Playmaker sessions is to provide a competitive environment for young players to learn the game of basketball.  Our emphasis as coaches is to teach the game in a way that builds confidence and allows for transfer of learning to game situations.  We run a disciplined program that gives us the ability to maximize our time on the court and minimize distractions to ensure the most efficient learning and development environment.  In other words, we take our basketball very serious as we hope our students do!
